$250,000 Bunker Renovation

Pheasant Glen Golf Resort and Golf Clan Holdings Inc. have undertaken a $250,000 bunker renovation to restore approximately 15 bunkers on the resort property. Greens Superintendent, Kelly Jacobson and assistant, Mark Sands, are leading the project with target completion in 2022—in time for the Canadian Men’s Senior Championship Tournament in 2023.

Pheasant Glen has always experienced maintenance issues with steep-faced bunkers washing out in the rain, so last fall they tested out revetted bunkers, and discovered they worked really well.

What inspired the revetted bunkers? After being fortunate to play golf in locations in the United Kingdom and Ireland where they experience similar weather conditions and maintenance challenges, Pheasant Glen owners noticed that their erosion solutions were working, and decided to investigate further. After testing out the revetted bunkers successfully on the course, they are confident in this investment.

Pheasant Glen has an extra 115 yard par 3 Hole that is being used while crews works on two bunkers at the par 3, Hole 11. Bunkers at Holes 3, 4, 5, and 8 are scheduled for renovation by June 1, 2021. Renovation work on other bunkers will resume in October.

The bunker upgrades will be a welcome change! Members and the public are equally as excited about the new bunkers.
